Onkologie

One important area of responsibility of the division is university teaching. Through module lectures, the internal internship and rotations, knowledge is provided of modern cancer diagnostics and treatment with an emphasis on special aspects of communication and care for people with a life-threatening disease according to the biopsychosocial model.

Research-led teaching

In addition, the division teaches specific content in special study modules, for example in collaboration with the Department of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the Division of Biophysics, in seminars for diploma and doctoral students and in the curriculum of the PhD programs and the Translational Molecular and Cellular Biosciences or Lifestyle-related Diseases doctoral school. Special lectures and elective training courses are offered on different topics in oncology, psycho-oncology and palliative medicine.

Diploma and doctoral students receive ongoing training at the division, which offers research stays in its lab.

The wide range of professional development opportunities at the Medical University of Graz is directed at a variety of occupational groups in the fields of medicine, science and research, nursing and health services. Most of the professional development courses can be completed while the participant is regularly employed and provide him/her with a valuable additional qualification.
